Why Learn French?

Picture this scene in your mind. You're going to Paris, France in one week with your family on vacation, and you know absolutely no French whatsoever (except bonjour, everyone knows that). You need to learn French fast if you're going to survive in France, so what should you do? Should you go to some random French course trainer and get as far as you can? Or should you find a computer program to teach you French? Well, I can tell you I'm not a fluent French speaker either, but I've tried different ways of learning French and I've learned a lot. Knowing French, even if you're not fluent, is really handy!
Here are some other reasons why you might want to learn French: You might want to get better grades in French class at school. You might want to have a "secret" language so you can keep secrets without whispering and getting in trouble. You might want to impress other people. And as I said earlier, you might have a trip to France in a very short amount of time. You want to learn French but don't know where to start. You're one of those people who want to know how to speak a language you know absolutely nothing about. Believe me; I know what that's like.
Right now you might be thinking, well, then, what do I do? Well, I'll tell you some of the things that I've tried: Find a French teacher and do a few courses, look up French courses on the internet, and using French language software on the computer. And of course if you can spend time practicing with fluent French speakers, that's even better. I once had a native French speaker in my school, and I totally missed out on the opportunity. Just promise me one thing: Don't miss out on opportunities like I did.
